Field Service Ironworker/Millwright

Your responsibilities

Successful applicant should have experience within the heavy construction industry. This position reports directly to the Field Crew Project Manager and Crew Superintendents.

Applicant will be responsible for erecting of structural steel, maintenance and installation of cement & mining equipment, proper use of moving machinery and tools, organizing and working well with construction team.  thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions utilizes the multi-skill concept and expects the employee to perform other job disciplines. 

 

Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Follow Daily Procedures and Protocols as set forth in job orientations and trainings and Safety Handbooks
  • Properly follow all industry related safety procedures
  • Bring problems to the attention of the Superintendent or Safety Facilitator
  • Use basic rigging knowledge to set up hoisting and installation of steel members
  • Signals crane operator in setting of steel and equipment during erection
  • Using tag line, guides members in place then uses hand tools to pry, push, and pull the members into place so that the connections can be made up
  • Lays out, positions, aligns and fits components together in various body positions and may assist in lifting, positioning and securing of materials and work pieces during installation
  • Bolts, welds, and cuts material as needed to make up connections
  • Loads, transports and unloads material, tools, equipment and supplies. Assists with tool trailer and warehouse organization
  • Performs minor maintenance or cleaning activities of tools and equipment
  • Full-time position, benefits, hourly pay

Your profile

  • 5 years’ work experience as an iron worker journeyman in construction of heavy industrial equipment, petrochemical, power generation, or similar construction
  • Must have knowledge of basic welding and flame cutting, able to use pneumatic tools, have knowledge of safe loads and wire rope basics, familiarity with basic hand signals and basic rigging knowledge, experience with sizing of chokers, have layout knowledge (figure formulas) and knowledge of magnetic drill
  • Ability to understand and execute erection drawings; along with a strong understanding of proper equipment use, structural steel erection, equipment (i.e. cranes, lifts etc.) tools and work procedures
  • Ability to work independently, anticipate and plan work in accordance to established schedules and procedures. MSHA/OSHA and other Health and Safety certifications are desirable
  • An equivalent combination of education, supervisory experience and related construction experience may be considered

 

Additional Qualifications:

  • Dedication to a safe and environmentally compliant project
  • Ability to lift, carry and move 50lb+
  • Candidate must have a valid US driver’s license
  • Industrial Equipment (forklift, man-lift, scissor lift, etc) operator a plus
  • MSHA trained and knowledgeable of MSHA/OSHA regulations.
  • Ability to travel and work overtime (including nights, weekends and holidays) along with working outdoors and in all weather conditions
  • Travel up to 90% domestically and internationally
  • Due to travel needs a valid passport is required
