thyssenkrupp Elevator is currently seeking a 2nd Shift Safety Technician I to join our team in Middleton, TN.

 

Assist in building and maintaining a safety culture to eliminate injuries, reduce workers’ compensation costs, improve safety performance & awareness, and evaluate regulatory compliance with OSHA and EPA

 

  • Assist the Environment, Health and Safety Manager with advancing and maintaining OSHA programs, providing guidance to internal customers on potential improvements, and driving a Safety-First culture
  • Helps ensure that TKE Middleton is in compliance with regulatory requirements and corporate safety guidelines
  • Will help drive OSHA performance improvement initiatives, standardized work processes and efficiencies
  • Support the EHS Manager with updating and developing safety and health programs and supporting
  • procedures, and integrating those procedures into existing documents and procedures
  • Assist in alignment and development of training modules for safety education and compliance training
  • Assist with recordkeeping and other routine activities
  • Assist in supporting Lean process
  • Assist in developing and documenting Job Hazard Analysis and other safety-related work products
  • Assist in establishing safety standard work in manufacturing work cells
  • Assist in follow-ups from employee communications
  • Assist in tracking and follow-ups on safety audits
  • Assist in the guidance and coaching of Safety Teams
  • Conducting ergonomic and other safety events
  • Assist in the handling and treatment of First-Aid cases                                         
  • Assist in safety projects such as PPE Assessments, 6S, and Monthly Safety Training
  • Assist in other tasks and duties assigned by management

 

 

Your profile

  • High School Diploma required; A.S. in Occupational Safety & Health is preferred; A.S. in any field is a plus
  • Documented years of experience may be substituted for years of college education
  • 2 years minimum experience in environmental health, and/or safety, management and compliance in a manufacturing environment
  • Basic understanding of OSHA Safety Standards is required
  • Practical experience in First Aid / CPR / AED is preferred
  • Experience as a Firefighter/EMT is a plus
  • Ability to work independently, while communicating with other Safety Team Members as required or needed
  • Excellent communications and advisory skills are a necessity – oral, written and electronic communications
  • Proficient in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Experience in investigating, recording and documenting injury and property/equipment damage incidents
  • Experience in conducting a documenting Job Hazard Analysis (JHA), Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) Assessments, and other safety- & health-related investigations and reports
  • Strong planning, organizational, and follow-up skills
  • Excellent people and process management skills
  • Must be able to maintain a high degree of confidentiality
  • Must be a Team Player with a positive attitude and strong desire to make a real difference in safety performance and awareness
