In 2003, our manufacturing facility was established in the South Industrial Park of Terre Haute, Indiana. Your responsibilities

SUMMARY: The Customer Quality Engineer has the responsibility for the implementation, conformity and performance of the process at the respective plant / OU for the Management of Customer / Internal Complaints (Production Phase). They plan and conduct activities concerned with the quality assurance of industrial processes, materials, and products by performing the following duties:

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: include the following. Other duties may be assigned. Plans and conducts the analysis, inspection, test and/or integration to assure the quality of assigned product or component during either development or serial production depending specific role.

  • Applies statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data to evaluate the current process and process changes.
  • Documents data obtained during all quality assurance activities, consistent with company policies and procedures.
  • Manages the quality problem solving process (8D) towards the customer.
  • Interact and serve as project lead with Production Quality Engineering, technicians, Warranty Engineering, Lab Technicians to solve and complete effective root cause analysis and permanent corrective actions.
  • Serves as first customer contact in case of quality problems.
  • Accesses regularly the different customer websites to identify potential quality or rating problems.
  • Contributes actively to the reduction of failure costs like scrap, rework, and warranty.
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities.
  • Communicates significant issues or developments identified during quality assurance activities and provides recommended process improvements to management.
  • Prepares reports to communicate status and results of quality assurance activities.
  • Prepares and presents technical and program information to team members and management.
  • Directs technical and administrative workers engaged in quality assurance activities.
  • Maintains a working knowledge of government and industry quality assurance codes and standards.
  • Stops production in case of a non-conformity.
  • Is responsible for housekeeping and 5S in Quality areas.
  • Responsible for all Quality related customer activities.
  • Process owner for area related processes.

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and/or Experience:    

  • Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year college or university in an engineering field of study.
  • Comprobable experience applying statistical process control (SPC) methods for analyzing data and evaluating current process and process changes.
  • Experience leading and managing the quality solving process (8D) towards the customer.
  • Experience leading projects for reducing or eliminating scrap, defects, reworks and warranty.
  • Experience in presenting technical and project information to team members, management and customers.

 

 

Computer and Technology Skills:                                                     

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of Database software; MS Office software package, SAP-enterprise resource planning software quality module, Lotus Notes Applications, QS-STAT software tool, PLM software. Experience with GD&T, Measurment System Analysis, working knowledge of statistics, ability to interpret the results is a plus. 

                      

Language Skills:       

Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, business journals or government regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.  Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.  German language speaking skills is an added plus.

         

Mathematical Skills:    

Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as: probability and statistical inference, and ability to apply concepts such as:  fractions, percentages, ratios and proportions to practical situations.           

 

Reasoning Ability:    

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form. 

 

Travel Requirements:

The Customer Quality Engineer will be expected to travel on-site to customer locations for meetings, training, and other activities. Training can be international, and an active passport will be necessary.  Average amount of travel < 10%, but some occasions may occur that require more.
