Your responsibilities

Provides overall direction for production ensuring that customer orders are produced and delivered in accordance with cost, quality, quantity and on time. Directs and provides leadership to a production management team accountable for creating a culture that drives process improvements, coordinates the allocation of resources, controls expenses and promotes a safe work environment.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same
Plans, directs, and coordinates engineering to design, maintain, and improve processes and equipment. Coordinates and confers with staff members to establish and execute short and long-term goals as defined in the Special Purpose Vehicle (“SPV”) business plan and achieves a high level of customer satisfaction to assure our long-term position in our market place
Plans, directs and manages SPV Process Engineering providing necessary leadership to assure quality standards are met or exceeded, and improved
Manages the Time to Market Process required to launch new part numbers into Production
Develops annual budgets and manages cost to meet financial commitments
Follows established product and process standards to assure best practices are maintained and improved
Creates a culture and environment of continuous change and improvement by incorporating LEAN strategies throughout the manufacturing organization
Recruits, hires, trains and develops staff. Provides direction to and development of staff through daily coaching, the administration of performance management and the creation and implementation of development plans
Identifies and implements changes to improve productivity and reduce cost and scrap and rework
Recommends long-term strategies for evolution of manufacturing capacity, technology and efficiency
Actively manages production scheduling which is required to meet forecasts and market demands
Responsible for introducing and managing improved manufacturing methods (i.e., lean, 6-Sigma, TQC, Robotics) in order to raise manufacturing efficiencies and overall product and process quality
Improves the safety, housekeeping and quality of operations while ensuring compliance with regulations of OSHA, and any other local, state and federal agencies
Reviews production schedules and orders to make decisions concerning inventory requirements, staffing requirements, work procedures taking into consideration budgetary limitations and time constraints
Reviews operations and confers with technical or administrative staff to resolve production or processing problems
Sets and monitors product standards, examining samples of finished product or product during assembly to ensure finished products are of prescribed quality
Manages the operation in support of plant objectives including safety, quality, on-time delivery and profit for all areas and product lines
Manages equipment maintenance and calibration programs including negotiations with equipment vendors for preventative maintenance programs
Maintains appropriate communications within and between various functional areas within the organization
Reviews organizational and labor plans to ensure they are consistent and adequate for attainment of objectives
Evaluates and responds to profit/loss statements, operation reports and performance records to ensure expected performance levels
Performs other duties and responsibilities as assigned

Your profile

Qualifications & Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or Operations
Substantial manufacturing or process engineering experience preferably in the automotive industry
Knowledge of and experience with automated assembly processes required
Experience in CNC machining operations and robotics
Possesses and demonstrates strong business acumen
Possesses a strong understanding of lean manufacturing and world class manufacturing principles
Strong interpersonal communication skills including influence, collaboration and building relationships
Demonstrates strong project management and vendor management skills to support program design and delivery. Can site examples where ability to manage risk and ambiguity, define scope, and manage multiple priorities and internal client expectations to meet objectives was accomplished

Demonstrated ability to effectively interact and communicate with multiple levels and disciplines. Possesses and displays strong consulting skills, including the capability to quickly identify and develop improvement opportunities and build the trust and confidence and credibility of key OE partners, individual contributors, line managers and leaders
