Your responsibilities

This role provides expert judgment and consultation in one or more areas in design, develop, implementation and analysis of mechanical components of an elevator system. This position demonstrates expertise in a variety of the field's, concepts, practices, procedures and elevator codes and recognized as technical leader and resource.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Design and/or oversee design of mechanical components of elevator systems, and all technical aspects of the department.
  • Focuses on highly complex technical issues and conducts advanced research to assist in development of mechanical components and systems.
  • Mentors, leads and directs the work of others.
  • Assists in the management of the product development roadmap including verification and validation activities of the product development life-cycle.
  • Uses computer-assisted engineering and design software and equipment to perform assignments.
  • Reads requirements and specifications to fully understand the systems required for the components being used.
  • Generates and coordinate designs per requirements and specifications.
  • Assess, plan and produce documentation for manufacturing of hydraulic and traction elevators.
  • Develops and maintains product roadmap in alignment with business objectives in conjunction with the Product Strategy Group.
  • Vets innovation ideas against business strategy, existing product roadmap and resources.
  • Researches viability of conceptual product features and functionality for new products and improving existing products.
  • Leads competitor bench mark sessions to understand how functionality and performance is achieved.
  • Collaborates with product marketing to effectively introduce products, coordinate advertising, and participate in trade shows and other key activities during the life cycle of the product.
  • Creates formal product knowledge documents, pictures, and videos (as appropriate) to provide marketing with sufficient information for them to develop ecommerce site content and social media messaging.
  • Supports technical training of internal staff with a focus on areas of interest to enhance knowledge related to current and future projects.
  • Develops standards and processes in product design that ensures technical design concepts, item lists, bills of material, etc. are properly documented and controlled.
  • Assists as needed the IP Group to document and control Intellectual Property; including working with Legal Department on contract development with partners which protects TKEs' interests.
  • Establishing quality standards and require supporting quality assurance standards from design, OEM and manufacturing partners.
  • Coordinates with the Product Strategy Group to integrate usability studies, testing, research, and market analysis into product requirements to enhance user satisfaction.
  • Understand strategic and competitive position in the market and deliver innovative experiences that are recognized as best-in-class.
  • Reviews and sign off on all risk registries, PDR, and CDR milestones.
  • Maximizes efficiency in a constantly evolving environment where the process is fluid and creative solutions are the norm.
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned.

WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS

  • 6+ years’ experience in a technical product development, project management position.
  • Must possess excellent customer service skills.

  • Must possess a wide degree of creativity while solving problems and developing designs.

  • Must have strong background in designing complex mechanical components and systems.
  • Exemplary judgment regarding product usability, customer expectations and creative product tradeoffs.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills to present data and product recommendations to engineering and marketing/sales management.
  • Excellent proficiency using MS Office skills (PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Project or comparable Project Management Software).
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills with a keen attention to detail.
  • Experience with Project Management Professional (PMP) processes highly desired.
  • Project management experience and demonstrated past leadership roles in leading engineering teams is required.
  • Ability to travel sporadically to evaluate job site issues, for trade shows, and for other customer/consumer related activities.
