Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas is currently seeking Strategic Procurement Manager in Atlanta, GA.  The Strategic Procurement Manager for New Product Introduction represents the purchasing function on new product development projects and drives the related sourcing process. This role will work to understand the direct material requirements of new products while working closely with engineering teams and supplier quality. He/She drive awareness about various supplier capabilities to meet objectives, challenge engineering on the use of standard items, advise engineering on the procurement and supply chain implications of technical decisions as well as provide business case input from the supply chain management perspective. The Strategic Procurement Manager New Product Introduction is responsible to manage supplier performance periodically reviewing suppliers and launch improvement programs where required.

  • Work with senior leadership to define procurement strategies
  • Support definition of target cost settings and provide all necessary activities to meet target costs while adhering to the commodity strategies established by the cluster managers or strategic procurement
  • Use global processes and tools to support Procurement, Engineering, PLM and Quality
  • Provide Supply Chain schedule (sourcing and logistics)
  • Liaise with sourcing partners to execute agreements
  • Participate in the review process of specifications for equipment, products or substitution of materials
  • Review and evaluate specifications for issuing and awarding bids in conjunction with sales and operations
  • Utilize e-Auction (reverse auction) tool to support organizational goals and objectives
  • Prepare, review and track reporting in relation to management of suppliers
  • Identify, negotiate and contract with providers to drive cost effective relationships
  • Analyze and stay current with market trends (steel, oil, etc…)
  • Analyze industry prices and price trends and compare with actual supplier prices
  • Report findings to buyers and to management as directed
  • Assist in evaluating suppliers' performance by gathering information and preparing reports.
  • Conduct audits of supplier procedures involving company owned tools, inventory, or equipment being held by suppliers
  • Resolve vendor or contractor grievances, and claims against suppliers 

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Business or Supply Chain Management
  • Master degree a plus
  • 5+ years of experience in direct materials procurement within an R&D or Manufacturing environment
  • Robust technical background – including reading drawings, schematics, etc. a plus
  • Cross functional thinking
  • Project Management skills a plus
  • Strong collaboration and influencing skills
  • MS office (Word, Excel PowerPoint)
  • up to 40% travel
