Your responsibilities

The responsibility of the Quality Engineer is to work on the development, coordination, and maintenance of the quality assurance program, with process- specific focus. They will ensure product quality with established standards and customer specific requirements, with the expectations of meeting company objectives, facilitating continuous improvement and achieving total customer satisfaction by performing the following duties.  

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Monitors quality assurance objectives complementary to company policies and goals
  • Monitors and supports change of operational procedures and documentation for serial production
  • Develop and implement quality programs, including tracking, analyzing, reporting, and problem solving of serial production activities
  • Prepares reports by collecting, analyzing, and summarizing quality data and making recommendations to management team
  • Works with production  teams to implement any new testing criteria, method, and inspection
  • Identify weakness in production processes and identify solutions/training needs
  • Provide direction in developing CPIR, subsequent inspections, frequency and sampling plans, acceptance criteria and validation testing
  • Responsible for process-related corrective action implementation and quality-related production documentation
  • Responsible for studies and activities necessary to increase control and lower cost of poor quality
  • Responsible for implementing and validating Poke Yoke/Error Proofing methods
  • Responsible for internal complaint activities
  • Requests internal deviations, controls gauge changes after approval and when it expires
  • Generates Improvements and updates to process flow, control plans, and PFMEAs to all assigned SQDC Areas, coordinates the change
  • Directs and monitors sorting activities
  • Responsible for scrap reduction activities in serial production
  • Monitor and maintain one’s own action plan
  • Promotes process improvement and innovation of current methods and processes
  • Develops new approaches to solve problems identified during quality assurance activities and/or reviews
  • Maintains a working knowledge of quality tools and industry standards.
  • Interprets/teaches quality assurance philosophy including continuous improvement through training and communication of quality initiatives to cell team and production personnel
  • Responsible for process-specific quality assurance training programs to production personnel
  • Leads/Supports Six-Sigma projects as needed
  • Supports serial production and product quality activities
  • Provide production floor support to resolve daily product and process quality related issues
  • Support and verifies proper containment and corrective action for process and product quality issues
  • Routinely review inspection data to ensure conformance to control plan
  • Responsible for providing daily production quality support and disposition of suspect material from production as well as related SAP movements
  • Monitors, supports, and facilitates actions to reduce high scrap rates and costs
  • Creates, trains to, and removes Quality Alerts/Time Limited Work Instructions from production lines
  • Interprets and teaches quality assurance philosophy to production personnel
  • Oversees the Cradle-to-Grave responsibility of the Process Quality Group who are the specialists for that area and ensure an in-depth understanding of the full process of that process
  • Investigates internal complaints and supports Product Quality Engineer in case of customer complaints
  • Initiates control plan Changes to reduce scrap, prevent for complaints or correct the process

Your profile

Education and/or Experience:                                           

  • 4-Year Bachelor’s Degree in technical field
  • Quality experience preferred
  • Automotive experience preferred
  • Ability to read and interpret drawings
  • Thorough understanding of problem-solving and quality tools/techniques 

Other Qualifications and Abilities:                                                

ISO/TS 16949, Cost of Quality, 8-D Analysis, APQP, PSO, PPAP, Control Plan, FMEA, SAP, Six-Sigma, Applicable Operating System Software, and Specific Customer Requirements
