Senior Project Controls Specialist

Your responsibilities

Position Overview:

• TKIS responsible for project cost control functions related to U.S. based EPC projects, as part of our Project Controls team
• Actively support successful project execution and completion, within the parameters of time, budget, and quality - and in all project phases
• Alignment with Project Management regarding project specific strategies for effective cost management
• Interface with all project team members, including Engineering, Procurement, Construction, and Commercial - with adherence to change management procedures
• Continuous cost analysis, update and reporting of project deviations from contractual provisions and approved project scope
• Ensure all cost forecast and changes are reviewed with appropriate approvals, aligning with Schedule and Cost Control, to support Project Controls reporting and analysis
• Home office role, based in Denver - with some travel to field sites, as required

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Assist with the implementation of cost control procedures to support the Project Execution Plan
• Interface frequently with the Project Estimator, Scheduler, and Project Management
• Review and understand project estimate, project deliverables, and set up budgets, in respect to the WBS
• Understand scope and contractual terms & conditions for a particular project
• Understand the performance tracking system and status of deliverables as it relates to change
• Analyze and process internal and external project changes, following the change management procedure – including identifying cost and schedule impacts
• Gather and maintain project change documentation, facilitating appropriate approvals
• Maintain and update the project change log, tracking both internal and external cost and schedule deviations
• Communicate appropriate TKIS subcontractor requirements for cost and change management
• Review and analyze subcontractor change requests and change orders
• Analyze risks, with supporting analysis of contingency
• Implement construction cost control requirements and align with construction staff 
• Provide continuous improvement to identify cost effective methods and strategies to manage change effectively
• Coordinate external changes with Claims Manager, as required

Your profile

Required Education:

• Bachelors Degree in Engineering, Business, Construction Management

Required Technical Knowledge:
• Software skills required: SAP, MS Excel, scheduling software
• Software skills preferred: Prism, Oracle, other cost databases, Primavera

Requirements / Qualifications:
• Dedication to a safe and environmentally compliant project site
• 5+ years of experience in change management, contracts administration, cost control, project controls, risk analysis
• Experience supporting capital projects in all phases preferred including engineering, procurement & construction
• Industry experience preferred includes Mining, Chemical, Power, Oil & Gas
• Ability to review and understand project cost estimates and project schedules
• Excellent communication, reporting, and presentation skills
• Excellent problem solving skills
• Ability to effectively interact with all project disciplines and stakeholders
• Able to work independently and with initiative to gather project information from all project team members and other stakeholders
