The Europe Africa Business Unit is the second-largest of thyssenkrupp Elevator’s four Business Units. This regional unit handles the sale, installation and servicing of elevators, escalators and moving walks. The Business Unit’s Headquarters – thyssenkrupp Elevator Europe Africa – is located in Essen, Germany, from where it coordinates activities in Germany, France, the British Isles, Austria, Switzerland, the Benelux countries, Scandinavia, Iberia, Italy, Turkey, Eastern Europe and Africa. In fiscal 2016/2017 the Business Unit had about 15,000 employees and generated sales of 2.1 billion euros in 31 countries. Your responsibilities

  • As a Commodity Buyer for Field activities you will implement the procurement, supply and bundling strategy for the respective commodity in order to achieve a maximum contribution to the corporate targets
  • You will be responsible for supplier management in order to attract, obtain and develop the best suppliers, applying risk and contract management to avoid supply risk and warranty
  • Your daily business includes to prepare and conduct price and contract negotiations, involving all necessary stakeholders to ensure full exploitation of identified potential savings
  • You will supervise and manage cross functional purchasing teams & projects to permanently improve the service and optimize savings
  • We are looking for someone who is able to manage and execute all operational purchasing tasks and processes from clarification of demand to matching and documentation of supply, including filing of all purchase order related documents
  • Working in the Procurement and Supply Management (PSM) means to support Commodity Management, Materials Management and Purchasing Management in demand and supplier analysis, claims management and warehouse management
  • Last but not least, you will manage interfaces between PSM, engineering, sales, project management and coordination of project teams

Your profile

  • You have successfully completed your university studies (preferable engineering, mechanical or electrical)
  • You have at least 3-5 five relevant professional experience in relevant purchasing commodity or category management and supply chain management
  • You would bring in expertise on strategic purchasing and supplier management as well as basic technical know-how of purchasing
  • We are looking for an independent thinker who has experience in international, multifunctional team work with strong communication skills
  • You have a high affinity and knowledge of ERP System (e.g. SAP, SRM)
  • Good written and spoken English is a must in this job
