Your responsiblities

We are currently seeking a Safety Manager to be based out of the Livermore, CA or surrounding areas. This person will act as leader, educator, liaison and partner in pursuing excellence and value in the warehouse facilities and offices using the concepts of Continuous Improvement problem solving. This position will work with the Operating Excellence Team and report to the Site Manager as well as reporting requirements to the Director’s of Operating Excellence for both Quality Assurance and Health and Safety. They will work with the site plant manager and operations team to focus on improving current process efficiency, material flow, productivity, quality, and safety. The position is responsible for contributing knowledge, performing analysis, developing solutions, assisting in implementation projects, integrating systems with processes, providing training, and measuring results. Must understand and communicate the issues and relative data that impact the quality of Safety, as well as the improvement tools necessary to support a culture change for behavioral safety.

  • Spearhead all safety related activities and also provide leadership, coaching, and formal and informal training in support of on-going safe work environments
  • Monitors and reviews performance and provides guidance to meet all set goals in injury and accident avoidance (recordable and non-recordable)
  • Responsible for feedback and follow-up on historical inspections/observations and suggest areas of improvement to operations personnel and upper management.
  • Collect data on critical safety practices, heavy on-going problem solving for root cause correction and on-going Continuous improvement.
  • Share best practice documentation, tools and key learning's across the organization.
  • Participate in Operations Excellence training and meetings.
  • Assist in the implementation and maintenance of the Quality Management System:
  • Provide training and role out of new processes and procedures.
  • Assist with Continual improvements to the 6S, Safety and ISO system.
  • Internal Quality System Level 2 Audits
  • Managing the 6S auditing process and ensuring close out of Kaizen Action items and on time reporting of scores. 
  • Managing the Safety Auditing process and ensuring close out of Kaizen Action items.
  • Monitoring sites on a daily basis for ISO, Safety and 6Scompliance.
  • Completion of sites SIR reporting and timely submission monthly.
  • Monitoring and populating all communication boards. This includes the 6S, Safety and SVB boards.
  • Conduct root cause investigations and make recommendations for corrective and preventative actions both internally and externally. Ensure that all CAR and PAR are closed out in a timely manner and meet customer expectations.
  • Travel as required for Launches, Customer Visits and Facility Reviews, or Meetings.
  • Perform in depth Accident investigations with effective corrective actions solutions and ensure on time reporting as per company policy

Your profile

  • Minimum of Associates degree or program in environmental or occupational health and safety and 3 years experience 
  • Experience in 6S, internal auditing and performing Risk Assessments 
  • Familiarity and knowledge of State, Federal, and Provincial Safety Standards and Regulations including CAL OSHA
  • Demonstrated leadership and training facilitation skills
  • ISO 9001/TS16949 environment exposure
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of quality management systems applicable to the business
  • Computer skills – Power point, Excel, Word, Visio and Project
