Operations Manager - 1st Shift

Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Aerospace NA is looking for a OPX Manager to coach and otherwise guide a team of employees to achieve optimum levels of lean productivity, quality and safety. This role will be heavily focused on quality, directing, leading, and supervising the development of a total quality environment through the use of quality meetings, planning, training, statistics, and audits performed internally and externally. The OPX Manager must also understand and communicate the issues and supporting data that impact the quality of Safety & Training, as well as the improvement tools necessary to support the desired culture.

 

To be considered for this Job, you MUST have

  • Interpersonal skills to communicate with plant manager, sales staff, and warehouse personnel.
  • Warehouse experience with forklift, packing and measuring
  • Implements, and coordinates safety program for the location, and monitors work processes, procedures to drive team performance toward departmental and organizational goals
  • Facilitate training to operations/office personnel on safety processes and practices, new initiatives and injury and accident avoidance
  • Perform internal audits to identify non-compliance, hazardous conditions & unsafe behaviors; audit scope includes processes, facilities and equipment
  • Mentor operational management in safety and lean process
  • Perform accidents/incidents investigations and facilitates the development of root cause correction
  • Make training plan monthly, quarterly, annually
  • Partner with operational managers to identify specific training needs to improve quality lean processes and safety

You’ll be responsible for:

  • Create Quality Debits Memos
  • Quality Assurance planning
  • Customer and vendor claims and trend analysis
  • Statistical techniques for process control
  • Document major customer quality requirements
  • Conduct internal and external Quality System audits
  • Provide internal and external technical assistance
  • Training and Development of employees in the area of quality, LEAN and Safety
  •  Corrective/Preventative Action System (CPAR)
  • Teach, coach and demonstrate work activities and safety for team members
  • Accountable for ensuring that all team members receive required instruction in safety procedures, proper use of equipment, performance standards, disciplinary processes and other workplace and Company policies, procedures and practices
  • Responsible for reporting any accidents or incidents that occur within the designated facility (on- or off-site). Accident or incident reports must be completed by the supervisor immediately when such event occurs and forwarded directly to the Operations Manager within 24 hours
  • Frequent communication with site Quality Assurance Representatives
  • Training and Development of employees in the area of quality, LEAN and Safety

Minimum Requirements:

  • Bachelor's Degree or 5 years’ experience in Quality Assurance/Control
  • One year management experience
  • Strong presentation and public speaking skills
  • Good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to interpret regulatory requirements (federal, state and provincial) and apply them to the workplace
  • Knowledge & experience to provide effective training on all appropriate safety related topics
  • Excellent Computer skills – Power point, Excel, Word, Visio and Project
  • Identify unsafe behaviors and unsafe conditions in the workplace using regulatory requirements & best safety practices
  • Basic understanding of ergonomic principals, ability to perform ergonomic assessments and develop ergonomic improvements
  • Knowledge of Behavior Based Safety concepts and ability to illicit the involvement of Leaders & employees in correcting undesirable behaviors
  • Analytical aptitude necessary to conduct root cause analysis, develop and oversee implementation of appropriate corrective actions
  • Team building – ability to involve employees and the leadership team in the process

Preferred Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a safety related field & 3 Year experience in safety management
  • Formal training in regulatory requirements (OSHA 10-hour, OSHA 30-hours, etc.)
  • Prior experience in the management of organization training requirements
