Your responsibilities

 

Summary:

 

Responsible for performing multiple general maintenance tasks (non-production machinery related) across the facility to include general repairs, various odd jobs, pick-ups and deliveries.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

 

  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Provides general labor associated with building maintenance, repair and construction activities. Performs minor building maintenance and repair activities to include, but not limited to the following:
    • touch up painting
    • monitoring and replacing light bulbs throughout the facility, as needed
    • minor plumbing repairs, as necessary
    • coordinates and assists with departmental and employee moves
    • basic electrical work and determines when an electrician is required
    • hanging pictures and shelving, as needed
    • dismantling, moving and installing furniture
    • transporting goods or equipment as assigned
  • Assists building maintenance technicians periodically with cleaning mechanical equipment and mechanical/electrical rooms not accessible to janitorial staff.
  • Maintains exterior building sidewalks (collect trash, debris, wash down and weed control), sweeps and maintains parking areas, loading dock areas as required.
  • Picks up and disposes of trash/recycle materials per building standards as required.
  • Assists with lifting, stacking and relocation of operating supplies, materials and equipment.
  • Assists staff with building emergency response coordination and communications.
  • Assists maintenance technicians in non-skilled activities as required.
  • Ensures compliance and safety of all activities within the organization policies.
  • Performs all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.

Your profile

Qualifications & Experience:

  • Has knowledge of and experience in facilities and/or maintenance in a large plant setting and can demonstrate a basic understanding of how things work (facility-related).
  • General mechanical aptitude with good general math skills required.
  • Knowledge of cleaning chemicals and supplies.
  • Familiarity with Material Safety Data Sheets.
  • Is able to walk, bend, stoop, balance, crawl and reach for extended periods of time.
  • Must be able to utilize/view a PC and/or monitor.
  • Must be able to lift up to 100 pounds.
  • Must be comfortable and able to work on a ladder of 20 feet.
  • Is certified and experienced in the use of lift equipment such as fork and scissor lifts.
  • Must be able to effectively communicate (written & orally) with all employees, contractors and vendors with demonstrated ability to understand and follow both written and oral instructions.
  • Must be organized with strong prioritization skills to manage multi-functional tasks and provide deliverables in support of business plan & project objectives. Must be able to multi-task constantly and handle changes in priorities frequently.  
  • Possesses and displays integrity and is fully reliable to work independently with minimal supervision in a fast paced environment. Is a self-starter and team player.
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Must have a valid Ohio, Indiana or Kentucky Driver’s License.
  • Ability to work effectively under pressure, and against strict time constraints.
  • Ability to use standard powered and non-powered tools.
  • Demonstrates resourcefulness and initiative in dealing with duties.
