Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Elevator Corporation is currently seeking a PMO Manager - Information Technology to join our team in Alpharetta, GA.  Manages day-to-day activities in the GPI Project Management Office (PMO) to ensure GPI projects meet organization goals and requirements. Implements and provides guidance related to PMSO processes and policies, oversees the work of GPI project management staff, and works with Business Relationship Managers to define, prioritize, and develop projects.  Manages and consults subordinate staff in the day-to-day performance of their jobs. Ensures that project milestones/goals are met and adhering to approved budgets.

  • Manages the standardized PMSO project management methodologies, controls and procedures
  • Maintains an integrated project schedule to ensure that all GPI projects are effectively managed
  • Ensures preventive and corrective actions are implemented to keep projects on schedule and within budget
  • Maintains a current and thorough understanding of information systems, technologies and practices to match business needs
  • Recruits, trains, coaches, advises and mentors PMO employees
  • Provides regular project status reporting to stakeholders
  • Work with the GPI and Corporate quality teams to ensure project deliverables meet high quality standards
  • Manages the project managers use of the standard PPM tool established by PMSO and Global teams
  • Ensure Daptiv is fully adopted in managing projects and reporting at all levels
  • Experience managing IT professionals and partnering with 3rd party service providers, including but not limited to estimating, monitoring work, problem-solving and error correction, and keeping projects on track
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal and leadership skills in dealing with others and expeditiously supervising others to get work done
  • Extensive experience at planning, organizing, directing, controlling, guiding, supporting work efforts of all sizes and complexity, including making plans and estimates, maintaining multiple budgets, organizing projects and the work of others
  • In-depth experience with aligning business requirements with IT solutions and/or prior experience working with or managing Information Systems preferred
  • Requires detailed knowledge of project management processes, tools and controls that support the PMO
  • Demonstrated ability to interact with all levels of management to assess business requirements, and to plan, manage and deliver stable, reliable and cost-effective technology solutions
  • Good understanding of accepted operational and financial business practices
  • Excellent understanding of the organization’s goals and objectives
  • Ability to communicate ideas in both technical and user-friendly language
  • Proven working experience in project management

Your profile

  • Bachelor's degree in Business and/or Computer Science/Engineering
  • Project management certification (e.g. PMP, CAPM, etc.)
  • Green or Black Belt certification (desirable)
  • Minimum 3 to 5 years in senior project management roles
  • PMP (Project Management Professional) Certification or equivalent preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of project management or other related fields
  • Minimum 5+ years’ experience coordinating and/supporting business processes
  • Minimum 5+ years in software development or design activities or related IT activities
  • Excellent written, oral, and interpersonal communication skills
  • Strong scheduling and cost management and control experience
  • Proven analytical and creative problem-solving abilities
  • Willingness to travel
