With roughly 7,000 employees at 18 production sites in seven different countries, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has sales of over one billion euros and operates over 50 forging press lines and more than 150 machining and assembly lines in seven countries. Your responsibilities

The Production IT Systems Specialist report to the ITM/Business Partner Manager and is the primary Subject Matter Expert for the Production IT environment. They provide support for a variety of services that are not housed in the office environment. They act as resource in the area of production clients, servers, networks, and support systems. Participate in the on-call after hours support roster. Minimize interruptions in computer services to clients by monitoring the various systems to recognize and prevent (whenever possible) or reduce interruptions in services). Ensures adequate retention/back-up of production-related server/software configuration and data. This position requires a strong commitment to safety.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Maintains the Production PC environment
  • Manages IT related servers and services that directly impact the local production environment.
  • Assists CT-FT IT with all production IT-infrastructure related tasks

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • Manages Production IT related servers and services that directly impact the production environment. This includes data collection and recipe servers as well as backup, file, and directory services.
  • Installs, troubleshoots, and maintains repository of production client software. This includes software directly related to production needs. Specific packages include LIS, Modula, Telesis as some examples. Responsible for testing and installing upgrades in a timely manner.
  • Monitors Production networks. Coordinates with Quality/Process/Maintenance Engineers to monitor and troubleshoot problems related to the production network. Specific tasks include: management of Production VLANS, IP Addressing, and Access List configuration. Also coordinates installation and troubleshooting of the physical network with the Plant Electrician.
  • Responsible for Active Directory issues related to Production such as the creation of new Organizational Units and Group Policies.
  • Plans and coordinates Production IT projects. Works in conjunction with BU Production IT teams to align/develop project scope and to ensure project stays on time and on budget.
  • Monitors and maintains support agreements and maintenance contracts related to the Production IT environment. This includes hardware, and software. Specific examples include Pro-E and Autocad licenses as well as hardware vendors like Grob.
  • Acts as backup resource for Data Collection. This includes learning basic functionality of Data Collection operations.
  • Supports Logistics operations by acting as a resource for Fork Trucks/Scales, and production line workstations and scanners.
  • Supports Quality operations by acting as a resource for equipment based in the quality labs and line gauges. May assist Data Collection with quality data.
  • Fosters good relationships with colleagues throughout thyssenkrupp, vendors, and contractors.

  • Education/Credentials/Certifications
    • 2 year AAS degree in Computer Science/Technical discipline required
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Computer Science or related field Preferred
  • Length of Experience
    • 1 year hands-on hardware support and systems administration experience in a manufacturing environment
    • Windows XP/2007/2010 support experience required.
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Must have a strong technical knowledge of Windows, PC Hardware, LAN protocols, WAN connectivity, Cisco routers, Cisco switches, Voice over IP, Internet/Intranet technologies, and working knowledge of common IT related functions to support a growing enterprise.
    • Must be able to multi-task and be flexible.
    • Must have excellent communication and customer service skills
    • Must be a team player with good organizational and planning skills and willing to provide off -hours support.
    • Thorough knowledge of network internals, software, hardware and design.
    • Capable of independent research
