Your responsibilities

Summary of Position:

The Purchasing Intern will be assisting thyssenkrupp Materials NA’s (TKMNA) Purchasing Team with a variety of activities.  The Intern is required to work up to 40 hours per week and report to the Product Supervisor. The internship is assigned for 3 to 6 months located at TKMNA’s HQ in Southfield, Michigan. 

The Purchasing Team Member will be exposed to:

  • Interaction with purchasing teams on supply chain activities
  • Involvement with supplier meetings
  • Use of business & information solutions including: Microsoft Office Suite and SAP
  • Opportunities to be creative, grow professionally and learn outside the classroom
  • Management of defined material groups
    • Forecast, manage inventory levels & purchase to meet the needs of the Selling team and financial objectives

Key Accountabilities:

  • Utilize and develop supply chain analytics
  • Purchase and manage define product lines
  • Interact with the Global Supply Base
  • Assist with reporting to the purchasing team

Your profile

Qualifications:

  • Currently enrolled full-time in an accredited university
    • Junior or Senior academic standing
  • Supply Chain Management, Business, or International Business degree
    • 3.0 or higher GPA
  • Good communication and organizational skills
  • Experienced in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook
  • Strong multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work independently
