thyssenkrupp integrated its Forging & Machining and Undercarriage businesses to start the new business unit Forged Technologies. With roughly 7,000 employees at 18 production sites in seven different countries, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has sales of over one billion euros and operates over 50 forging press lines and more than 150 machining and assembly lines in seven countries. The product portfolio includes undercarriage systems for heavy machinery as well as crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, chassis products, transmission systems and rotor shafts for the automotive industry.

Your responsibilities

The Tooling Group Leader reports to the Head of Forging and is responsible for overseeing tooling staff and activities related to three areas: coil induction repair, metallurgical lab preparation area, and die maintenance/replacement.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Overseeing Tooling staff
  • Planning and budgeting for Tooling
  • Communicate with other departments to drive results

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • Schedule tooling personnel tasks
  • Make daily decisions about tool condition
  • Plan and allocate resources in the three areas
  • Handle purchase of tools and die blocks
  • Handle all budgeting and reporting for Tooling
  • Participate in safety committees
  • Determine and implement repair methods
  • Collaborate with product engineering to provide customer quotes
  • Collaborate with engineering to make design revisions
  • Maintain log of die life
  • Track outstanding orders from vendors
  • Supervisory responsibilities such as planning/assigning work, approving vacation/sick time, and preparing performance evaluations

Your profile

Education/Credentials/Certifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field
  • A combination of 3-5 years of directly related education, training and/or experience is desired for this position
  • Forging background preferred

 

Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
