Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions is currently seeking a Technical Buyer in our Atlanta, GA office location. The Technical Buyer has a thorough understanding of a typical workflow involved in the Procurement of goods and/or services for large projects throughout the Supply Chain flow process. He/she must understand the spare part / After Sales business and identify new suppliers. The Technical Buyer will also receive, verify and understand fabrication schedules and will communicate to the project the feasibility of the provided schedules.

 

  • Transcribe and develop scope description, validate supplier, and confirm pricing and lead time
  • Include documentation package (drawings, parts lists, specifications, etc.)
  • Generate purchase order including commercial terms and technical notes
  • Confirm receipt by supplier and review acknowledgement for accuracy
  • Present documentation for review / approval by manager or engineering
  • General tasks as required to facilitate spares sales as instructed by manager
  • Track progress and expedite vendors for the submittal of contractually required documents and/or drawings.
  • Track progress and expedite vendors to complete manufacturing or fabrication per contract schedule, and on-time delivery of purchase order deliverables.
  • Confirm order acceptance, document submittal schedule commitment and manufacturing schedule for compliance with contract schedule and purchase order requirements.
  • Issue written confirmation of pertinent commitments made by suppliers.
  • Proactively report to project team members or stakeholders (as applicable) the status of documents/drawings and manufacturing as it relates to the contract schedule (submitting reports from relevant databases mentioned above), including:
    • Communication with Project Managers regarding potential slippage of vendor commitments
    • Communication with engineers regarding flow of documents
    • Communications with vendors on commitments and/or slippages
    • Communication inside the Inspection & Expediting group to guarantee a flawless handover to Inspection
  • Minor travel such as expediting or manufacturing verification trips to vendors national and international up to 25% of time.
  • Generate and issue reports regarding the status of document flow, expediting and equipment manufacturing
  • Verify fabrication schedules
  • Visit fabricators site and discuss fabrication schedule under consideration of existing resources and current workload
  • Track inspection schedule and communicate with the Inspection group possible impacts and deviations

Your profile

  • Deep knowledge of fabrication of cement and mining equipment and spare parts
  • 2 year degree in Supply Chain Management, Business Administration, or related field. In lieu of 2 year degree an equivalent direct continuous experience of 2 years as a project fabrication expert will be required
  • Knowledge of supply chain process related to the internal work flow of instructions from business front end through operations and to procurement
  • Ability to collaborate and build professional rapports with supply base (ie. Vendors), and to influence the communication to produce the desired positive outcome
  • Ability to multitask under pressure
  • Ability to learn new programs, tools and implement new processes
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Windows and Office (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, PowerPoint, etc)
  • Preferred Qualifications:

    • 5 plus years of experience within expediting and fabrication
    • Proficiency with SAP MM module
    • Experience in cement or mining industries, or other plant technology industry
    • Excellent oral and written communication skills
    • Experience with expediting and/or document control software programs
