Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Industrial Solutions (USA) is currently seeking a Senior Buyer in our Atlanta, GA office location.

Our Sr. Buyers are responsible for the purchase of materials, supplies, equipment and services needed for the completion of various projects.  The Sr. Buyer will work closely with the project team to ensure the accuracy of their purchases.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Development and implementation of future-orientated instruments, methods, processes, systems and/or tools in tk PSM, including Group wide / region wide harmonization
  • Supporting senior management in optimization and ongoing development activities within the procurement organization
  • Supporting PSM organizations at Group/BA/BU-level with relevant internal and external information and data
  • Generation, verification and consolidation of data and information for operative and strategic decision-making in tk PSM
  • Responsibility for specific subject areas and/or instruments in PSM /e.g. methods and tools, e-procurement, World Class Procurement, etc…)
  • Development of improvement ideas and innovation, followed by coordination and implementation of corresponding measures for realization in the subject areas and instruments
  • Integration/Transfer of Group policies within the assigned subject area » Realization of projects to implement individual instruments and/or projects to harmonize applications in BAs/BUs/Regions » Creation of reports and report monitoring of non-financial targets to be met by the procurement organization within the BU/OU/BA or by a cluster
  • Solicits bids, analyzes quotations received, and selects recommended suppliers
  • May interview prospective suppliers
  • Purchases items and services at the most favorable price consistent with quality, quantity, specification requirement’s and other factors
  • Acts as liaison with suppliers and Company
  • Initiates, issues and administers purchase orders
  • Prepares bidder's lists from Company approved suppliers
  • Coordinates activities involved with procuring goods and services for projects
  • Confers with suppliers to obtain product or service information
  • Maintains manual or computerized procurement records, such as items or services purchased, costs, delivery, product quality or performance, and communications
  • Coordinates with the project expeditors and logistics coordinator for the expediting and delivery of goods to final destination
  • Ensures all orders are completed and delivered as per the commercial requirements established
  • Additionally a buyer must understand all duties and responsibilities of an expeditor:
  • Coordinate with buyer(s) and/or project team to identify supplier expediting requirements, alerting project team/buyer(s) of any potential delivery problems
  • Ensure supplier understands requirements of the contract which shall include quality and documentation expectations
  • Record supplier schedules, progress, shipping and receiving information
  • Serve as communication link between Company and suppliers to ensure responsiveness, providing availability and schedule information within established guidelines
  • Improve supplier performance as demanded by project schedules/requirements
  • Identify and assist in resolving delivery performance problems
  • Ensure with support of the logistics coordinator the delivery of all goods to their final destination

 

Your profile

Basic Qualifications:

  • BA degree or multi-year experience in EPC business
  • 2-5 years of work experience in EPC Project Procurement
  • General knowledge in Bulk Material Handling and/or Plant Technology Industry
  • Knowledge and experience with supply chain, including purchase, expediting, logistics, inspection, receiving, asset and inventory management procedures
  • Must be detail oriented with the ability to multi-task
  • General knowledge of quality assurance
  • Fluent with MS Office (Access, Excel, Word, Outlook, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications:

  • SAP experience
