Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas is currently seeking an individual to join us within the Sales Development Program in Manhattan, NY. This person will be responsible for successfully completing a six (6) month training program as part of the Sales Development Program (a.k.a. STEP).  The STEP program is designed to provide a thorough knowledge of products, standard business processes and customer relationships to help develop professional individuals who can easily transition into a sales position.  The goal of the program is to prepare individuals to become successful sales representatives for our company where they achieve sales goals and contribute to the branch’s profitability. The STEP program will coach individuals to advance into leadership positions to effectively manage our business, interact with internal and external customers, and build successful and profitable teams all within a safe environment.

 

Program Requirements

  • Successfully complete the six (6) month training program
  • Available for relocation throughout the training program
  • Based on company needs, area relocation determined at the end of the program with expenses paid

 

STEP Training Program

The six (6) month training program consists of two (2) phases including:

 

Phase I – Field Sales Training

  • Gain an understanding of the company’s safety culture and policies by participating in the orientation class and safety training
  • Gain an understanding and experience of operations including new installation, modernization, repair and service of elevator equipment including hands-on experience to provide an understanding of the company’s products and services
  • Complete training modules involving a number of aspects of field work, standard business processes, and safety topics
  • Develop and deliver weekly presentations as well as a final presentation at the end of phase one training

 

Phase II – Office Sales Training

  • Participate in a number of activities associated with elevator sales, including but not limited to tools and resources; customer experience; CRM and Big Machines
  • New installation sales
    • Learn how to and participate in the review of building specifications and drawings; writing proposals and letters of clarification; inspections, walk-throughs and coordination meetings; lunch and learns; project schedules; billing and collection processes
  • Modernization sales
    • Learn how to and participate in lead generation; site surveys; review of vendor proposals; estimates and engineering surveys; vendor and part ordering; job reviews and final inspections; and billing and collections processes
  • Repair sales
    • Learn how to and participate in tkTrip process; capital planning; field surveys, inspections and parts procurement; delivery of proposals and negotiation of down payments; and repair coordination process and customer follow up
  • Service sales
    • Learn how to and participate in review and understanding all company service contracts; account management and retention; lead generation and cold calling; and interaction with national accounts and ITS support
  • Shadow sales representatives in all lines of business to gain an understanding of the area business markets
  • Complete online training modules and attend training events to gain a better understanding of the company and its products and services

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Strong computer skills and math aptitude
  • Technical aptitude to learn new software (Oracle, SAP, or other ERP systems)
  • Strong organizational, written and oral communications skills
  • Gain a strong understanding of thyssenkrupp Elevator, it’s mission and objectives, customer focus, safety, ethical standards, and compliance
  • This position requires up to 15% travel
