Your responsibilities

The Reliability Engineer is an integral part of the maintenance team. This position is responsible for data analysis to achieve and maintain machine uptime goals for all production equipment. This person is responsible to use advanced analysis tools to determine machine failure rates along with development and deployment of a reliability program. This person works to improve production and quality targets and to provide the appropriate reliability engineering support.

Your profile

  • Responsible for the following key performance indicators:
    • Improved unplanned downtime of production machinery
    • Optimization of critical spare part list of every line in production
  • Evaluates and collaborates with the maintenance department short-term, mid-term and long-term maintenance plans, based on a thorough understanding of equipment requirements and resource availability.
  • Guides efforts to ensure reliability and maintainability of equipment, processes, utilities, facilities, and controls.
  • Professionally and systematically defines, designs, develops, monitors and refines an Asset Maintenance Plan that includes:
    • Value-added preventive maintenance tasks
    • Effective utilization of predictive and other non-destructive testing methodologies designed to identify and isolate inherent reliability problems
  • Develops a Risk Management Plan that will anticipate reliability-related risks that could adversely affect plant operation.
  • Develops engineering solutions to repetitive failures and all other problems that adversely affect plant operations. These problems include capacity, quality, cost or regulatory compliance issues. To fulfill this responsibility the Reliability Engineer applies:
    • Data analysis techniques that can include:
      • Statistical Process Control
      • Reliability modeling and prediction
      • Fault Tree Analysis
      • Six Sigma (6σ) Methodology
    • Root-cause and Root-Cause Failure Analysis
    • Failure Reporting, Analysis and Corrective Action System
  • Applies value analysis to repair/replace, repair/redesign, and make/buy decisions along with standardization of like spare parts to reduce number of spare parts needed.
  • Monitors and performs trend analysis on spare part cost and actively works on reducing costs.
  • Maintains list of obsolete machine components.
  • Works with area manufacturing engineering teams to develop plans for upgrading of obsolete parts and equipment.
  • Perform routine inspection and revisions of maintenance tasks and provides feedback to the maintenance team.
  • Leads the continuous improvement cycle with the preventative maintenance process.
  • Design and implementation of engineering modifications to improve equipment and process robustness.
  • Performs return on investment calculations for projects to prove out its value.
  • Makes recommendations to process engineering group for potential major engineering modifications.
  • Evaluate spare parts, supplier, quantity, and timing requirements.
  • Works to define and implement action plan items and Poke Yoke systems to improve machine reliability.
  • Develops project and resource planning for reliability projects of current and new equipment.
  • Involvement in purchasing of new equipment with process engineering to ensure the reliability and maintainability of new and modified equipment.
  • Maintain, support, and verify established 6S standards for respective work area.
