thyssenkrupp integrated its Forging & Machining and Undercarriage businesses to start the new business unit Forged Technologies. With roughly 7,000 employees at 18 production sites in seven different countries, thyssenkrupp Forged Technologies has sales of over one billion euros and operates over 50 forging press lines and more than 150 machining and assembly lines in seven countries. The product portfolio includes undercarriage systems for heavy machinery as well as crankshafts, connecting rods, pistons, chassis products, transmission systems and rotor shafts for the automotive industry.

Your responsibilities

The Quality Engineer-Machining reports to Quality Manager Machining and is responsible for overseeing the quality of parts produced on the line, devising corrective actions to address quality issues, and conveying information to the larger team.

Major Areas of Responsibility

  • Review quality of parts produced
  • Take action to address quality concerns
  • Train on quality issues and provide work instructions
  • IATF Internal Auditor
  • Provide mentoring to apprentices

Specific Responsibilities of the Job

  • Walk through and review operations and parts disposition on lines
  • Track scrapped parts and enter in SAP
  • Expert in all customer specific requirements
  • Acts at IATF internal auditor
  • Devise daily scrap report
  • Address quality issues on the line and troubleshoot issues
  • Take necessary actions to address quality concerns such as following up with the customer
  • Conduct capability analysis upon customer request
  • Teach quality portion of new hire orientation
  • Develop and document work instructions
  • Enter certification paperwork
  • Manage corrective actions

Your profile

Qualifications

  • Education/Credentials/Certifications
    • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering or related field
    • Six Sigma Certification is a plus
  • Length of Experience
    • At least 2-3 years of hands-on experience related to forging/machining processes, manufacturing, and quality
  • Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
    • Understanding of forging and machining processes
    • Knowledge of crankshaft quality measures and critical components
    • Strong statistical knowledge
    • Customer relations ability
    • Data analysis ability
    • Root cause analysis ability
    • Ability to read machine blue prints
    • Excellent written and oral language ability
    • Ability to calculate tolerances, CPK, and metric conversions
    • Excellent reasoning and problem solving ability
    • Understanding of step-by-step procedures to develop work instructions
    • Understanding of quality systems
    • Organizational skills
    • Crankshaft knowledge is a plus
    • Extremely detail-oriented
