Your responsibilities

thyssenKrupp Industrial Solutions (USA) is currently seeking a Project Subcontracting Manager in  Denver, CO.

The primary role of the Project Subcontracting Manager is to oversee the overall direction for the project subcontracting organization. This person liaises with Construction Management directly and indirectly with the procurement management organization to establish and execute the subcontracting strategies.

 

  • Establishes and adheres to the quality, budget, and schedules of the project
  • Liaises with Construction, Procurement, and Engineering to ensure cross functional integration in all subcontracting, DS&E, and site procurement activities
  • Lead teams and manage change within organization
  • Coordinate with quantity surveyors to benchmark and measure site progress and reporting
  • Participates in the development of bid strategies including Bidder’s List, identifying and resolving as applicable, potential issues with Bidders
  • Pre-qualifies potential bidders and/or sub-contractors according to TK IS standards and procedure. This includes ensuring non-disclosure agreements and Supplier Code of Conduct are in place prior to discussions
  • Convert project requirements into contract documents
  • Review proposals prior to submission to ensure technical compliance
  • Develop, negotiate, and modify complex contracts
  • Evaluate bidders quotes to ensure completeness of offers, including determining inclusions, exclusions, clarifications, and qualifications
  • Utilize negotiation tools and techniques to support world class results
  • Develop and manage subcontracting process for assigned projects
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to confirm completeness and accuracy of proposed contract; learning and taking into account particular risks inherent to the project
  • Ensure best practices utilized across company
  • Establish, track, and manage quantitative performance goals for the contracts
  • Participates in startup and hand-off meetings
  • Reviews plans, specifications, reports, and addenda for issues and actions. Notifies internal stakeholders of discrepancies discovered and monitors or executes actions through completion
  • Assist sales team as required in developing strategies and estimates
  • Market knowledge of, and experience with, contracts in Construction Industry
  • Demonstrated expertise in negotiation and development of contracts
  • Understanding and balancing of customer requirements and organizational goals
  • Strong quantitative and analytical skills
  • Self-confident with good interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work with multiple stakeholders to create optimal approaches and solutions
  • Experience working with Cost Reimbursable type contracts, Fixed Price, T&M, and Unit Rate type contracts
  • Solid understanding of the entire construction contracting cycle and ability to structure subcontracts that include all appropriate contract terms
  • Exceptional communication skills, and effective interpersonal, organizational and presentation skills
  • Knowledge in claims and commercial management
  • Proficiency with SAP preferred
  • The majority of the work will be completed at the TKIS project site where the work is being executed, however frequent travel to office locations may be required

Your profile

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain Management and/or Logistics preferred. Can be substituted through work experience
  • Minimum of 10 years’ progressive work experience and management in large scale EPC subcontracting
  • Detailed knowledge of both domestic and international logistical trends
  • Proficiency with SAP and the MS Office suite will be highly regarded
  • Working experience in large scale EPC projects in Supply Chain functions (10 years preferred)
  • Self-motivated professional with a desire to grow personally as well as professionally with each challenge
  • Expert or at least advanced knowledge in the following areas:

    • Technical understanding
    • Supplier management
    • Negotiation and contract management
    • Business know-how
    • Risk- and Claim Management
