Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas is currently seeking an experienced Director - Safety in Tampa, FL.

 

Essential duties and responsibilities:

 

  • Cultivate implementation of all safety programs that come from the Business Unit (BU) America’s through to the U.S. Field Operating Units (OU’s) for standardization
  • Provides guidance to managers about safety issues and concerns and ensures that OSHA programs and safety records are well maintained
  • Ensures compliance & mandated training is implemented accordingly
  • Coordinates regional accident prevention programs, and plans and conducts safety training programs involving work site safety practices, fire prevention, and correct handling techniques for building materials, chemicals, toxins, equipment, and other materials
  • Review and analyzes safety trends provides management support to department supervisors and leads; includes annual performance management and disciplinary actions
  • Responsible for ensuring compliance with current OSHA and TKE site specific safety requirements and programs, by providing technical safety direction and management to support safety program and injury prevention efforts
  • Coordinate projects safety and accident prevention programs for the overall district, local branch and regional safety initiatives
  • Assist in the hiring, coaching and mentoring to ensure consistency in training and documentation to include training new managers, conduct safety inspections at facilities and jobsites
  • Produce reports and recommendations based on inspections findings. Develop metrics and report out on overall safety related topics to the leadership team
  • Assist in accident and property investigation reporting
  • Participate in daily, weekly and monthly meetings, complete safety reports and ensure all required field training is up to date and compliant with OSHA and Corporate
  • Other responsibilities include, but not limited to; Worker’s Compensation, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) and safety Policies and Procedures
  • Maintain a high level of safety awareness for an accident-free work place and perform all other duties as assigned.
  • Perform other duties as assigned

Your profile

  • A four-year degree from an accredited post-secondary institution within construction engineering, occupied safety or a related field of study. Relevant industry experience may substitute
  • 2+ years of relevant experience; preferably working as a safety professional for a general contractor or in an equivalent role for a major subcontractor
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • OSHA 500 hour certification and qualified trainer status / First Aid/CPR/AED certified is highly preferred.
  • Microsoft Office Suite
  • Elevator industry or service related field experience
  • Up to 50-75% travel is required
