Your responsibilities

thyssenkrupp Elevator Americas is currently seeking an experienced Designer I in Germantown, TN.

The Designer I Create technical drawings from ideas, concepts, instructions and diagrams into workable product designs. Transform sketches, concepts, layouts into designs using solid models, 3D models, 2D documents and assembly drawings using SolidWorks, Inventor, and/or AutoCAD.

 

 Essential duties and responsibilities: 

  • Communicate by email, phone, GoTo Meetings with other CSC (Customer Service Center) departments and Field
  • Maintain and meet scheduled deadlines
  • Use specialized design and experience to create technical drawings from ideas, concepts, instructions and diagrams into workable product designs
  • Transform sketches, concepts, layouts into designs using, 2D documents and assembly drawings using AutoCAD
  • Create and update detailed drawings of designs according to changes in specifications survey data
  • Review engineering drawings and designs to ensure accuracy and adherence to established specifications and standards
  • Perform special projects and other duties as assigned

Your profile

  • Associate’s Degree or Technical School and/or AutoCAD Certification are preferred; High school Diploma plus technical school and/or equivalent experience is required
  • One or more years of design/drafting experience is preferred in an architectural, structural or mechanical design environment
  • Knowledge of physics, dynamics, codes and regulations of product components
  • Ability to understand requirements and goals of projects to produce workable designs according to specifications
  • Must be able to consider manufacturability and assembly issues to avoid rework
  • Requires the ability to read, interpret and comprehend technical drawings and survey data
  • Must possess knowledge of commonly used drafting concepts, practices and procedures
  • Fluent in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Access, PowerPoint, and Outlook)
  • Must be able to understand and closely follow instructions and rough product designs and specifications
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills are required
