Your responsibilities

The EHS Coordinator position is a pivotal position with the priority of successfully managing the environmental, health and safety aspects of the business and their continuous improvement. The thyssenkrupp Occupational Health and Safety Management Manuel is the set of guiding principles for the achievement of these priorities while maintaining the culture and values of thyssenkrupp.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

ROLE PURPOSE

  • Direct, lead and execute the long and short term strategy to ensure sustainable results that meet or exceed financial and operational targets.
  • Build, align and create synergies cross functionally to drive top and bottom line growth.
  • Identify, inspire, grow and retain talent that will ensure the continued business growth and success for thyssenkrupp Camshafts Danville.
  • Motivate and build a high performance team.
  • Lead the development of processes and systems to align the business objectives and to drive operational excellence through all departments.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES

  • Drives towards meeting balance scorecard metric targets including: safety, quality, delivery, productivity and cost.
  • Maintains a safe working environment by complying with all safety and environmental policies in the workplace. Advocates for and promotes a safe work environment by reporting Near Misses and/or other safety and environmental hazards, wearing all required PPE and encouraging others to do the same.
  • Demonstrates and models leadership through fair and consistent actions, decisions and asking the right questions to help others understand how to solve problems and issues.
  • Sets the example and maintains established housekeeping standards for work area.
  • Facilitates continuous improvement processes and activities relating to EHS.
  • General duties and responsibilities for Environmental, and Health & Safety Management Systems:
    • Support EH&S management system objectives complementary to company objectives.
    • Coordinate, and support EH&S management system activities.
    • Support of EH&S management system training programs.
    • Maintain working knowledge of industry EH&S management system standards.
    • Interpret EH&S management system philosophy to company personnel.
    • Keeps management team abreast of significant issues or developments identified during EH&S management system reviews and the action plans.
    • Actively engages in EHS teams within the organization.
    • Performs EHS Audits.
    • Reviews, updates and maintains EHS documentation within DocShare.
  • Lead value added initiatives to improve employee incident rates, eliminate occupational safety hazards and reduce workers compensation costs.
  • Manage Workers’ Comp cases beginning to end with coordination between insurance company, physician, employee, human resources and management.
  • Coordination of injury care with Occupational Medicine
  • Leads Injury Reduction Root Cause Analysis. Facilitates post-incident investigations.
  • Manage Return to Work (light duty/recovery) Program
  • Assists with HIPPA, FMLA, ADA etc. compliance decisions.
    • Ensure personal and professional compliance with corporate, local, state, and federal regulations. (HIPAA, FMLA, ADA, OSHA etc.)
  • Assist and backup with OSHA Recordable Injury Log and associated reports.
  • Available to work flexible hours and available “on-call” afterhours to attend to workplace accidents/injuries.
  • Assume OSHA medical surveillance (hearing, vision, respiratory, blood borne pathogen)
  • Coordination of Drug Free Workplace (drug testing). Post incident and probable cause.
  • Assist with job descriptions (physical demands)
  • Acts as safety coach to all employees.
  • Manages EHS Master Schedule.
  • Responsible for Monthly Reporting
  • Manages TK Campus Security.
  • First Responder Team Leader
  • Coordinator for Health & Wellness Programs
  • Leads Near Miss Program

Education and/or Experience:                                              

  • OSHA 30 Hour, OHSAS 18001/ ISO 14001 Certificates preferred
  • Environmental System Experience preferred
  • Health & Safety Program Experience preferred
  • Automotive Experience preferred
